PA Maths Induction for New Starters 2020-21
This full day of training is for all staff that are new to their school and require induction into the PA Maths Programme. The session will cover planning, progression and key concepts. This is an intensive day which will prepare all those involved to teach exciting and engaging maths lessons, in line with the current National Curriculum.
“This was such an informative, introductory course. It was well prepared, enthusiastically delivered and catered well to my particular needs with regards to using PA Maths. Sarah’s passion for teaching maths is infectious and I genuinely couldn’t wait to prepare my next maths lesson once I had left. Thank you so much!” – previous participant
During COVID-19 restrictions, if training cannot be held in our schools it will run remotely on the same date as planned, 2-3.30pm. Materials and tasks will be sent to participants in advance. All training materials will be provided after the session. Further details will be provided nearer the time.
We will run all Autumn term training online as a starting point, and decisions about Spring and Summer terms will be taken later in the year. If and when face-to-face training resumes this year we plan to continue offering the training online too, to give members both options.
To consider the principles that underpin high quality maths planning
To understand the Concrete, Pictorial, Abstract (CPA) approach
To look at progression through the calculation strands from EYFS – KS2
To understand how to effectively use the bar model
