At Primary Advantage we pride ourselves in offering our NQTs the very best start in their teaching career. We have a long-standing track record of delivering NQT training to schools in Hackney and beyond. We have designed this comprehensive, tailored programme to best suit the needs of NQTs, offering a wide menu of choice, as well as plenty of opportunity to spend time in a range of classrooms and learn from others by observing the best practice.
The programme consists of ten half day taught sessions, ten school visits (with EYFS visits being tailored to EYFS settings) and then ten additional days to be spent on your own personal development, which can be guided and formulated during taught sessions. Each session will rotate on a three weekly cycle. During each taught session we unpick key principles of teaching, how the theory can be implemented back into the classroom and aim to have direct impact on developing each NQT into a highly skilled practitioner. Sessions will focus on topics that include behaviour management, SEND, well-being and curriculum subject specific content.
“Excellent CPD – lots of learning and growth thank you!”.
“Loved being part of different triads, and observing at different schools”.
NQTs from previous cohorts.
Covid-19 Update – Changes to the NQT Programme
We have planned the NQT Programme for 2020-21 knowing that elements of the programme will be subject to change. We have alternatives and scenarios that will enable us to continue to provide all the support and training planned for NQTs next year.
We are planning to conduct the first session ‘Best Foot Forward – Strategies for Starting the Year Well’ on the 9th July 2020 online.
In September the taught NQT sessions will continue online for the Autumn term and for the Triad sessions, NQTs will attend a peer observation in their own schools until it is feasible and safe to resume school visits. We will continue to review and update the timetable where necessary to ensure the safety of the NQTs and our staff in accordance with the latest guidelines.

SCHOOLS VISITS / TRIADS
These are a compulsory and key part of the NQT training programme. In previous years NQTs, in groups, have visited schools and observed best practice, focusing on a theme from the previous taught session, and reflected on what they have observed. Initially NQTs will attend a peer observation in their own schools. A timetable of external visits will be produced when appropriate. Schools will be expected to host several triads throughout the year, and in return their NQTs will have the opportunity to see practice in other schools. Triad visits will be planned at NQT schools and beyond to offer a breadth of experience.
