EYFS Reading: Playing with sounds- developing children’s early phonological awareness
Overview
This course looks at the learning and preparation needed for children to acquire a secure base on which to build phonological skills. We will explore what children need to know and experience to enable them to access phonics teaching with success. Through practical activities and exploration of key resources the sessions will provide an opportunity to discuss and practice with other professionals, looking in depth at key strategies for the teaching of early reading skills. At the end of the session a firm understanding of the sequence and progression will be shared and a secure understanding of what comes before phonics.
