Maudie is a Deputy Headteacher who has experience leading on English, Maths and MFL. She has lead both ITT and NQT training sessions and has recently worked to develop training to grow teaching expertise in more experienced practitioners and leaders. Through Paired Professional Development, Maudie has supported teachers with tailored CPD to improve their practice.
As an English lead, Maudie worked to develop a strong reading culture with a focus on vocabulary enrichment. She wrote a writing cycle and has supported teachers in her own school and beyond to plan for engaging writing experiences with integrated grammar opportunities. Maudie has run CPD on Book Talk and embedding vocabulary across the curriculum. She has been a member of the Leading Literacy Partnership with the IOE to share practice with other schools.
In her current role as a Maths lead, Maudie has worked closely with leaders in her Federation to develop a ‘mastery checklist’ to ensure that children across the schools can thrive as mathematicians. She also contributed to designing tasks and discussion points to support teachers at moderation.
As an advocate of knowledge-rich curriculum, Maudie has more recently worked with her team to develop a school curriculum, mapping progression and assessment of key concepts alongside a strong focus on vocabulary development.
Maudie is especially experienced in closing the gap for pupils in KS2 and has a strong track record of outcomes as a Year 6 teacher. She has supported other colleagues and leaders to meet the demands of the curriculum in Year 6. She is skilled at analysing data and planning for all children to meet aspirational targets so that no child is left behind.
