25 Sep Ariane DunwellSt Matthias Local Advisory Board member
Ariane works as a Senior Occupational Therapist at Homerton Hospital, her role involves supporting patients and their families whose health prevents them from engaging in meaningful daily activities.
Before becoming an Occupational Therapist, Ariane worked as a Data Analyst in Hackney within the Drug and Alcohol field at both Commissioning and Service Provider level. Having worked in Hackney for many years, she has considerable knowledge of services within Health, Social Care and the wider community.
Ariane was born in Central Africa, her family fled civil war and sought asylum here in the UK when she was at primary school age, she therefore understands and relates to children (and their families) having to learn a new language, navigating cultural differences and dealing with the desire to belong in a society that is not always accepting of cultural differences.
This cultural interest was furthered with a degree in International Studies and French, and a masters in Globalisation and Development before a final degree in Occupational Therapy. Now, as a mother, she feels invested in improving outcomes for young people and is keen to bring her skills and experience to bear with St. Matthias Primary School.
