At Primary Advantage we pride ourselves in offering our early career teachers the very best start in their teaching career. We have a long-standing track record of having delivered NQT training to schools across Hackney for many years, and are pleased to now be delivering the Early Career Teacher (ECT) programme, in partnership with Hackney Education and the East London Teaching School Hub (ELTSH).
Using materials designed by UCL Institute of Education, now graded outstanding by Ofsted in all categories for their ECT programme, our most experienced school teachers and leaders deliver the CPD programme to ECTs and mentors. The 2-year ECT Full Induction Programme is a combination of:
- weekly mentor meetings between the ECT and their mentor in school – following a structure and materials provided by UCL
- weekly self-study using UCL guided materials
- half-termly CPD sessions and online learning communities led by PA

Our CPD sessions for ECTs in their first year of the programme will run on Wednesday afternoons, led by experienced leaders from across the Primary Advantage Federation. Dates are below. The programme runs for 2 years, and the following year’s dates will be sent to participants nearer the time.

The ECT training sessions listed above will take place at Holy Trinity CE Primary School Beechwood Road, London, E8 3DY.
SCHOOL VISITS / TRIADS for 1st year ECTs
These are an additional offer to first year ECTs training in the PA cluster, and the model may be adopted by other schools if they wish. ECTs, in groups, will visit other schools in our cluster and observe best practice, focusing on a theme from the previous taught session, and reflect on what they have observed. A timetable of visits will be produced for PA schools and others in our cluster who wish to participate at the start of the academic year. Schools will host several triads throughout the year, and in return their ECTs will have the opportunity to see practice in other schools.

ECT MENTOR TRAINING
School mentors are a key component of support for ECTs during the 2 year induction period and benefit from mentor training to support them in this role. In addition to the structured weekly meetings they will hold with their ECTs, mentors enrolled on the programme will have 2 hours self-study materials per term provided by UCL and a termly online learning community led by experienced leaders and mentors at PA or Hackney Education.

CPD for ECTs in year 2 of the PA ECT programme will be on Tuesday afternoons in 2024-25. Year 2 Mentor training will be on Thursdays, once a term after school and the Year 2 mentor programme will be led by PA. All dates will be sent directly to all participants or can be found at www.eastlondontsh.org
