Amy FrohockClass Teacher: Year 2, SLE Specialisms: Science and Teaching and Learning and St Matthias Local Advisory Board Member

Amy has a strong track record both in the classroom as an outstanding practitioner and as a leader.   She has been a wealth of experience across KS2 and has led both science and maths. In her role as a mentor, she has coached PGCE students, NQTs, RQTs and middle leaders to develop practice and embed inspiring pedagogy. She has worked with schools from across Hackney by modelling, planning and evaluating lessons in order to improve teaching and learning.

With a passion for science, Amy has worked hard to develop teacher’s confidence in teaching the subject and is keen to provide children with practical experiences that capture the enthusiasm and excitement of these learners. Amy has written and created key assessment tools and materials for science and has worked with Hackney Learning Trust to create and carry out science moderation tasks to ensure that accurate assessments are being formed on children’s progress and attainment.

Amy has carried out a federation wide review into the effectiveness of peer and self-assessment. She has delivered whole-school training and presented to headteachers and governors on the importance of this form of assessment. Amy has sought out best practice so that all can benefit from the low cost, high impact value of peer and self-assessment and been instrumental in ensuring that this is embedded in schools. This work has seen children taking ownership of their learning and individuals achieve accelerated progress compared to teacher feedback alone. Amy has written guidance on how best to use it effectively.
